For students, instructors, and researchers
Computing for Every Course That Needs It
PARASOL gives UC San Diego students and instructors Jupyter, RStudio, and GPUs for scheduled classes, independent study, and student projects. Researchers use the same cluster for work outside a course.
PARASOL, the Platform for Applied Research, Analytics, Science and Open Learning, is the platform formerly called DSMLP. Datahub keeps its name and its address. It is the browser interface to PARASOL. Your account and your files are the same as before.

From DSMLP to PARASOL
What's Changing (and What's Not)
PARASOL absorbs the existing DSMLP and related services, and through a major additional investment by the Halıcıoğlu School of Data Science and Computing (HSDSC) made possible by Taner Halıcıoğlu’s founding gift to the school, overall GPU capacity will nearly triple. The name changes but the platform, its accounts and addresses are the ones you already use.
- Same Sign-In
Use your UC San Diego account at datahub.ucsd.edu, as before.
- Same Files
Home directories, shared course space, and datasets did not move.
- Same Commands
dsmlp-login.ucsd.edu and launch.sh still work. Hostnames keep the old name.
- One Documentation Site
Every page of the old documentation is now on this site, at the same address.
Support
Getting Started
Students in a course should ask their instructor or TA first. For anything about the platform, research work included, email parasol@ucsd.edu. Research IT also answers research questions at rcd-support@ucsd.edu. Instructors and TAs can book a one-on-one consultation.
